At Week 37 & 38

The space in the womb is getting tighter. Jijie's movement is restricted and more defined. I have been having hard time to sleep between 0200 - 0400 hrs almost every night. It feels like air is trapped in my tummy and the dinner ended up as vomit in the toilet bowl. That was about 4 consecutive nights before finally on one fine morning, I experienced stomachache. It doesn't stop. Thought it was air and i drank ENO to expel air. The nagging discomfort started at 0700 hrs and by 0930 hrs, I decided to go to Hospital Penawar with my sister for checkup.

At about 1100 hrs, finally it's my turn to see the doctor. Doctor said, " Actually, you are having contraction.. you are going to deliver today... You are going to be admitted into the ward." I went, "Huh? Jijie.. we are just 2 weeks away from schedule. If this is the case, then there will be no Columbia Asia Hospital for both of us. After all the travel back for check-up... "

So, Jijie came out at Week 38, 2 weeks ahead of schedule. That was about 19 days ago. Now I am busy with Jijie the baby boy.... Bryn Isaac Lam Ai Jie.

At week 30

Time really flies, and it's already 30 weeks. Third trimester now and Jijie is growing really really fast.

Memorable moments so far:
1. Using squat toilet. Whenever I have no choice but to use squat toilet, I dread the moment when I make my move to stand up. That is the time when I feel like Jijie is going to jump out and I feel like I am going to vomit. Now that Jijie is bigger, squat toilet is a NO NO...

2. 14th July 2007 - Saturday at about 0430 hrs. Don't know what was aimed to my diaphragm, most possibily "THE LEG". It drove me crazy... it was painful, caused me to vomit and I have to take deep breath and rub my tummy until Jijie changed his position.

3. 22nd July 2007 - Sunday. Went to shop for Jijie's new clothing and his milk bottle's thermal bag. That evening, Jijie got so excited that he moves from 1900 to midnight. I have to call Samak Jijie to calm Jijie down. I told him if your son don't sleep, you also cannot sleep. After hearing his papa's voice, he calmed down. Maybe he wanted to share his excitement.

4. Generally, Jijie is an active fetus, practicing his movement skills and muscles. We can't wait to meet him. Samak Jijie starts to wonder about Jijie's looks. All I can say, Jijie will be a cute and lovely baby.

Well, Mama sayang Jijie... Papa sayang Jijie...

Fei Tut Tut

Yesterday was Jijie's 4th checkup. Doctor checked the heart, the spine, facial feature. So far so good, doctor said I am developing well. Doctor asked whether I am active or not, then my Sindok said, "Very active". I have been practicing my newfound skill of moving my limbs, curling my fingers, turning inside the warm fuzzy womb.

Sindok said, it wouldn' t be long before the warm fuzzy womb will turn into a very tight cocoon. I have to let my Sindok know I am alive & kicking everyday. Otherwise, she'd get worried and will give me a nudge or two just to check my reaction.

Sindok didn't get the doctor to print out my first portrait yesterday.
(Next visit, ok, Jijie... and I will make sure that the memory card is sufficient for the video. Papa was saying he did not get the chance to have a good look at your face yesterday because he's busy with the camera. And we did not manage to capture that portrait section as the memory card was full.)

I was supposed to meet my Babai in KLIA yesterday but too bad, his flight got delayed. Babai went to Dhaka last night. Hmm I wonder when I can meet Babai & Sumbuk. Sindok said, maybe we will go back to Kuching for Christmas this year. Can't wait.

Gee....Jijie does have parents with high expectation.

Yoh....Jijie, feel the pressure already or not? Sinduk Jijie sure very protective of him....I am very sure.

Happy Gawai & The Power of Kuwek's Legs and Fists

Onak Kuwek: "Look at my knees on the left side of the photo and my arms in boxing position on the right hand side. I am practicing the power of my legs & arms. Now that I am bigger, my Sindok feels my movement. She said,"Kilik-kilik odop-e, kuwek tih!". Can't wait to be out of this confined area. Need bigger space to move about. But my Sindok said I can't come out yet, I am not ready yet. Sigh.... alright, I will wait. Play some more music for me, Sindok....
From Sindok, Samak & Onak Kuwek, Happy Gawai to all family & friends...

Note to Samak Kuwek

Samak Kuwek have been busy running errands around. Must be reminded that time past by so fast that soon Onak Kuwek will be premiering.

Hey! Onak Kuwek mengamuk...

Onak Kuwek aka Jijie is getting bigger now and making his/her existence felt by bumping onto Sindok Kuwek's internal muscles. Length is estimated about 15cm.

Felt first movement while driving back from work on 30 April 2007. Sindok Kuwek was driving to the bank that evening and was stopping at the traffic light. Suddenly multiple kungfu kicks was felt aiming towards the bladder.

Onak Kuwek's show will start every 3 hours at about 0900 hrs, 1200 hrs, 1500 hrs, 1800 hrs, 2100 hrs and towards midnite. After that either I can't feel the movement or Onak Kuwek is fast asleep. People say that, that will be the waking and feeding pattern once baby is born. Looks like good timing to me.

Oh.. by the way, Onak Kuwek was so calm when we were watching Spiderman 3 in the cinema that day. Sitting on the 2nd row in front.

Even now, Onak Kuwek starts practising KungFu or dancing hip-hop or simply finding a comfortable spot to lepak. Nowhere to go, anyway... This week Onak Kuwek is half way through the journey before seeing Sindok & Samak Kuwek. This weekend, we shall see whether Onak Kuwek is still camera shy or will let us know the next identity clue. Till next week.....

Week 9 to Week 15

It has been a long time since I last updated this blog. 6 weeks. By now, onak-kuwek is already more than 10cm in length. Can't wait to see onak-kuwek this weekend. Thought of inviting onak-kuwek's popo for the check-up. At least give her the opportunity to have a look at the technology now. This onak-kuwek will be her third grandchild.

Within this 6 weeks, onak kuwek have travelled to Siem Reap, entered the Angkor Wat 2 times, have been responsible for Sindok Kuwek's vomitting spree and also shopping spree for maternity pants. I still cannot imagine myself wearing maternity dress. Maybe next month, but not to office. I prefer to wear pants and blouse.

Vomitting spree - no food survive longer than 2 hours in my stomach. The worst episode was eating the chicken rice at one of my favourite place. I finished the whole serving. Quite an achievement since I hardly finish my food, lately. Most to most, i eat half portion. But this time, just after I finished, I started to feel that the chicken rice is making its way out from my stomach. Quickly head back to office and true enough, that afternoon, I manage to empty my stomach after 5 rounds of vomit spree. That was the worst episode and I still have the chicken rice phobia now.

Hungry, hungry, hungry... I became a very hungry person. Samak Kuwek said perhaps I should eat lots of times in a day but taking in small portions. Otherwise, no nutrition will reach Onak-Kuwek. OK... now I bring lots of food to office. I have cereal, banana, dried guava, chocolate (that's for today).

Hopefully this Sunday, we'll get to see a glimpse of Onak-Kuwek.

Onak Kuwek's ETA

The calculation is 40 weeks from the last menstruation Day-1. That would be 28 Dec 2006. The calculated due date: 4 October 2007.

This is the snapshot of what the baby looks like at week 9 of pregnancy. The black Bean Bag is the baby's liquid cocoon. The baby is in the cocoon. Measuring merely 2.28 cm. We saw the heart beating already.
Doctor said, he can only find one baby... so Samak Kuwek's wish may not be granted this time...

The Symptom: Nausea & Vommiting

My poor appetite is making me very hungry. Have not been interested to eat rice. Last time I MUST HAVE RICE at least once a day.

Last night I only chow down 2 pieces of Indian "puri" with potatoes. This morning, there's nothing to vommit out. But the vommiting must go on. So, I discovered a new thing today. What came out was Yellow Bile. Yikes!! It's so bitter! Yeah.. it's the digestion juice produced by the liver.

So what I do now, I eat whatever I can eat, whenever I want. But I must eat.

I wonder what is the connection between the hormone rage during pregnancy and the vommiting. Apparently the hormone causes activity imbalance within the gastrointestinal system. Studies still ongoing - the medicine society is still not sure. Lots of 'maybe' in the articles that I came across so far. Some links I found writing about this topic.

Completed Month 2

Month 2 so far was the most tiring period so far.

Water
I need more water.... I felt thirsty, I had dry lips, drier skin than normal, darker hue of urine in the morning - indicating I still don't drink enough water!

Energy level
Low... I look and feel very tired and sleepy all the time. When I get back from work, I basically at the lowest energy level for the day. I just want to sleep.

Sickness
Well, during the Chinese New Year, I had fever and flu. It took me almost 2 weeks to recover. I even stopped drinking milk because of the phlegm. Went to the doctor and we asked whether it is safe to take the medication.
Doctor: I have written it here, right? You are pregnant and of course the medication I prescribe to you is absolutely safe to be taken!
Me: Thank you, Doctor.
FS: Sure ah, Doctor, it's fine?
Doctor: Haiyo... Of course it's fine. I have written it in the card. This is your first child is it?
FS: Yes.
Doctor: No wonder lah.... Anyway, good luck..

Outside Doctor's office:
Me: Ha ha ha.. get scolding from Doctor.. Lagi mau tanya..
FS: Of course la, must ask....

Nausea and vommit
Obviously nasi lemak didn't go well with me during this period. I have been dreaming of nasi lemak and yearning to eat it. On 2 occasions, I vomitted it out.
My first vomitting experience was when I smell the aroma of fried onion. My brother was cooking dinner and I took evening nap after work. Whoa.. I felt the content of my stomach is about to flush out and I felt nauseous. I ran to the toilet and all the content of my stomach landed in the toilet bowl and flushed....
Tip from my mum, don't drink water while having food. Drink 30 minutes after eating.

Vommitting - as gross as it may be, it was actually quite easy. The signs are like this. I felt that my stomach is having a typhoon inside. Felt bloated, then the nauseous feeling and the face expression is one kind only... This is the best time to quickly run to the toilet. Bend my body towards the toilet bowl, open my mouth and YIKES... all the vommit just help itself to freeflow from my stomach and out of my mouth into the toilet bowl. Yea.. it's gross. But the after effect, my stomach felt calmer and I am hungry again.

Food Craving
Craved for Ramli Burger - ate Burger Ayam Special - with egg...
Craved for Roti Canai - Kosong. It was evening and I drove the whole housing area hunting for this Roti Canai. I was relieved I found the Roti Canai. That was on 26 Feb evening. Since then, I have not vomitted anything (fingers crossed!)

Telling My 4 y.o. Nephew why he can't be rough around me for the next few months
I was lying on the bed, down with fever and flu. Feeling tired and blue. Suddenly my nephew leaped from the floor onto the bed. Good thing he didn't land on my tummy. My mother-in-law saw him and I was also just opening my eyes during that action hero moment. Then, he got scolding from his po-po. I said to myself, allright, I need to tell him so that he understand why he can't play Ultraman with me for this time being.

I bought this book about pregnancy and it shows the progress of a pregnancy weekly. This nephew of mine likes books especially those with pictures and photos. So the task is quite easy. I called him to join me to read this new book that I have. Well, Auntie Nini is now having a baby in the womb (I must use the correct term). So today, the embryo looks like this. Everyday, it will grow until it become a baby that is ready to come out to see the world. Last time, when you were in your mama's womb, you also look like this. His response; he looked amazed and said wah... Then I said, OK... that's all for today. Then he went off to play Ultraman elsewhere. Later in the afternoon, he asked me again, "Where is the baby now?" I put his hands to my tummy and guess what, he rubbed my tummy and said, "Sayang, baby..." Such a sweet boy. At least now he understands why he will get scolding if he's playing roughly around me.

Looking forward to more adventure in Month 3

Make a Wish

Received this sms from Samak Kuwek who was in Vietnam for business trip.
" Was in a Vietnamese temple on the way to airport. Made a wish for twins and guess what... Positive!" time-11:39:53 dd 03-02-2007

Hmmm the only way to have an early indication is during the first ultrasound check this weekend.

First Doctor Visit

Date: 1 February 2007

Went to my normal doctor for verification. Did urine test, the result came out positive also, weighed myself.

Doctor: Drink more water and eat this vitamin with folic acid that I will prescribe to you. Come back next month for scanning.
Me: OK, Doctor... Thanks.

Hmm too early to know anything except that the I am expecting...

Positively Blessed: A peek through the window

Date: 30 Jan 2007 Time: 0720 hrs

This morning I was positively blessed with a new responsibility. I got blissfully speechless upon discovering this new responsibility. Well, need to confirm something first. But it looked something like this...
